What are the doctor’s treatments for nausea?
Prescription drugs to relieve nausea in pregnant women must still be under the supervision of a doctor.
This is intended to reduce the possibility of improper dosing, so that it can interfere with fetal development in each trimester of pregnancy.
Some drugs for nausea for pregnant women that are often given are:
1. Vitamin B6 and doxylamine
The combination of doxylamine (Unisom) and vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) supplements is recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) as a way to treat nausea during pregnancy.
Various data also show that the combination of these two drugs is very effective in reducing as well as relieving nausea and vomiting.
The combination of these two drugs does not result in an increased risk of birth defects in the baby.
Reporting from the American Family Phsycian (AFP), pyridoxine-doxylamine is the only drug that is specifically labeled by the Food and Drug Administration to treat nausea and vomiting during young pregnancy.
2. Antiemetic
Antiemetics are anti-nausea medications that are commonly prescribed as a way to treat and relieve nausea during pregnancy.
This medicine is given if other treatments have not worked. There are several types of antiemetic drugs that are usually prescribed, namely:
Meanwhile, for women with severe nausea such as during early pregnancy, doctors will give droperidol (Inapsine) and diphenhydramine (Benadryl).
3. Antihistamines and anticholinergics
Meclizine (Antivert), dimenhydrinate (Dramamine), and diphenhydramine are among the drugs that have been shown to be effective against nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

4. Motility drugs
Metoclopramide (Reglan) is a drug that helps improve the movement of the digestive tract.

Even though it is a natural ingredient, ginger can have an adverse effect on pregnancy.
2. Lemon oil
A study in the Iranian Red Crescent Medical Journal states that lemon oil can help treat nausea and vomiting in pregnant women.
In this study, it was found that pregnant women who inhaled lemon oil experienced reduced symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
3. Lavender oil
Lavender oil is one of the natural ingredients that can help reduce and relieve nausea during pregnancy.
This essential oil stimulates relaxation so that the nausea will slowly disappear.
To feel the benefits, you only need to put 2 to 3 drops of lavender oil in it diffuser or a basin of water to inhale the vapors.
4. Spearmint oil
