Don't Like Water? Here are 3 Causes and How to Overcome Them!
For most people, drinking water is like breathing. It is not a matter of like it or not, but a matter of physical needs. However, there are some people who don’t like plain water. They prefer thirst or seek a drink other than water. How could that be? Here it is the various reasons and how to overcome them.
How come there are people who don’t like plain water?
Without drinking water, your body will become dehydrated so that your organs don’t function properly. In addition, water is also refreshing and able to quench thirst. However, someone may not like water because of the following things.
1. Addicted to sugar
Try to pay attention if you often have cravings for sweet foods or drinks and are always crazy when eating sweet foods. You may just be addicted to sugar.
People who are addicted to sugar usually prefer drinks that have a taste, not as bland or tasteless as plain water. This is because the taste buds of people who are addicted to sugar will react positively when you drink beverages such as sweet teas, fruit-flavored sodas, or bottled juices.
Because you are not used to bland food or drinks, plain water will taste bad on the tongue.
How to fix it: To make it less bland, add sliced fresh fruit or herbs to plain water. Drink infused water indeed it will make your drinking water tastier and sweeter.
Try adding lemon, strawberry, kiwi, grape, apple, pineapple, or guava slices. Leaf spices such as mint leaves can also add a distinctive flavor to your drinking water.
Besides tasting better, infused water also appears more colorful than plain water. This can trick your own thoughts, as if you are drinking sweet fruit juice instead of plain water.
2. Bloating after drinking water
There are people who don’t like plain water because after drinking their stomach feels bloated. Well, this may be because the way you drink is wrong. When the stomach is empty, drinking one or two glasses of water should not make you bloated. However, if you drink a liter of water at a time, your stomach can become excess fluid. You also feel bloated and nauseous.
Likewise if you just drink water after eating. The problem is, your stomach is filled with food and fluids from food.
How to fix it: Better to drink often, but a little. Don’t immediately drink a lot at once. For example, drinking half a glass of water every hour.
You should also drink water before eating or when you eat. This is so you can measure whether your stomach feels full or not. After eating, drink enough water, no need to overdo it.
3. The taste of the water is strange or unpleasant
Be careful if you do not like plain water because it tastes strange or unpleasant. Although drinking water does taste different, it shouldn’t taste too sharp or bitter.
The taste of water that is too sharp can be caused by contamination, the addition of excessive chemicals, or an altered water Ph balance.
How to fix it: If the drinking water in your house feels strange, check the water quality immediately. For example, if you buy a gallon of drinking water, ask the seller and make sure that the water has not expired and is stored in an ideal place.
If you usually boil water from the PAM tap, immediately contact the PAM officer. If you boil water from a ground well, bring a water sample to check in the laboratory.
So, for the time being you should drink water from other sources first. For example, buying bottled water from other brands.
