5 Benefits of Diligently Drinking Water for Your Body

Did you know that more than 50% of the human body is made up of water? Without water, including drinking water, we cannot maintain normal body temperature, lubricate joints, or get rid of unused substances through sweat, urine, and defecation.

Our bodies need water or fluids that are useful in the process of digestion, absorption of substances or food content for energy, blood circulation, transportation of nutrients, producing fluids or saliva, and maintaining body temperature.

We need to consume lots of water so that the body does not become dehydrated or lack of water, which can cause weakness, muscle weakness and cramps, not focusing, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion, and even a stroke!

How much water should you drink? Not 8 glasses per day

Ugenerally we often listen to advice or articles that we need to drink 8 glasses of water every day, which is the equivalent of 1.5 liters.

However, Institute of Medicine’s Food and Nutrition Board recommends that women actually need 2.6 liters of water per day and men need about 3.7 liters per day.

You can get adequate water coverage every day by drinking water and consuming fluids such as soups and soft drinks, along with water-containing fruits and vegetables.

Don’t forget, too, if you are exercising or running, you will need more water before, during and after doing it.

The reason for needing to drink more water

There are several other facts that you need to know why we need to drink lots of water, namely below this.

1. Generating muscles

Muscle cells that do not have enough fluids will not be able to retain fluids and electrolytes, resulting in muscle fatigue. Muscles will not function properly and their abilities will decrease.

You also need plenty of water when exercising, according to American College of Sports Medicine. Some experts from the campus recommend that we drink half a liter of water 2 hours before starting to exercise.

2. Keeps skin radiant

The skin actually contains a lot of water which functions to prevent excessive loss of body fluids. However, don’t expect that excess body fluids can be a powerful way to remove wrinkles from lines on the skin.

Drink enough water to keep your skin healthy.

3. Control calories

Drinking lots of water is usually done by people who are on a diet to lose weight. Although the effect is not immediate, using plain water as a substitute for high-calorie drinks will certainly help a lot.

“The diet program will work if you choose water or non-calorie drinks as a substitute for calorie drinks. Then, a diet with healthier liquid-rich foods will help you cut calories, “said a researcher from the University of State of Pennsylvania and also author of the book. The Volumetrics Weight Control Plan, Barbara Rolls PhD.

4. Maintain kidney function

Body fluids are the “means” for transporting waste or waste into and out of cells. The main poison in the body is blood urea nitrogen, a type of liquid that can pass through the kidneys to be processed and excreted in the form of urine.

When you have enough body fluids, normal urine will flow freely, be clear, and odor-free. When there is not enough body fluids, urine concentration, color, and smell will be more noticeable because the kidneys have to absorb extra fluids to carry out their functions.

That is why if we don’t drink enough water, your risk of developing kidney stones will increase, especially in hot or warm climates.

5. Maintain normal bowel function

If we drink enough water, the food we consume can pass through the digestive tract smoothly and prevent constipation.

However, if we don’t consume enough water, the intestines will absorb fluids from feces or feces to keep the body hydrated, so it will be difficult for us to defecate.

Well, can you imagine if we rarely drink water, what health problems can come to us? Don’t forget to keep drinking water every day, OK!
